Lawyers Against AHPRA

In Australia, the National Law governs the conduct and professional standards expected of many professional disciplines. This includes Doctors, Psychologists, Pharmacists, Nurses and many other fields of expertise.

AHPRA, who primarily act as the enforcement arm of the various National Boards, often bring proceedings against professionals who they believe may have acted inappropriately or in breach of their professional obligations.

Unfortunately, the process of being investigated is a harrowing one. In the words of Gary Fettke, who was pursued by AHPRA simply because he spoke out against the dangers of sugar, “the process is the punishment”. Many professionals have their lives and careers ruined by protracted investigations that do not necessarily have Truth at their core.

Many of these matters eventually end up in the administrative Tribunal, and the Boards are prone to ‘lawyer up’. Proceedings can be complex and strategy is important.
